I think the author has a talent and needs to continue to write. And, I took enough away that I do remember the story line, the characters (though the names have left me, sorry), and it did flow with only a few hiccups. I appreciate the author offering this as a sample. But, overall, I gave this book 3 stars because, even though it wasn't my genre, I was drawn into the story. So, I took something away from this story for my own work. I'm so tired of reading one character explaining to another why they're treating their bodies in this sexual manner or that. As an author, I'm learning from others how exhausting the 'naive' or 'innocently dumb' characters have become. I felt I could visualize what he was describing, for the most part. If so, well done! I feel the writing style was easy to read. I didn't feel moved by any particular point other than to find the main character annoying. I feel it may be different for people with an appreciation for M/M erotica. I can't say that the story line moved me enough to follow this series. I'm being fair in admitting this isn't my usual genre. I wasn't intrigued enough to get the next one, however.įrom an author point of view, I could see this story appealing to many others. But, I was intrigued enough to be annoyed that I was already at the end.

If the head vampire is supposed to be cold and cruel, why does he take such a 'My First Day of Preschool' type approach to explain everything to his supposed detested victim? He seems too kind for me to believe he's mean and nasty. I found myself thinking, 'Yes, of course.' quite a bit. (Again, straight looking in.)I felt there was a lot of unnecessary wording that distracted me. I don't feel the author did too horribly bad with the other parts of that scene. But, maybe that's a part I wouldn't appreciate, being that it's out of my realm. Other than that, there was a scene when he was being converted that seemed unnecessary to me. It didn't make me respect him as being 'tough,' as much as short in the vocabulary department. I didn't care for the use of the word 'fuck' to create a 'tough guy' attitude for the MC. So what if it's not my lifestyle? It's still art, and I appreciate it. So, I sort of stumbled into something with this one, but I read it, out of respect for the work the author put into it. M/M is not my thing, but I have an open mind. Like many others, I was compelled by the cover image. I can see that being bad in certain hands. I was not privy to that from the ad I saw when I downloaded this free book. First of all, I'm very happy to see how clearly it is stated on Goodreads what type book this is.
